Ibrahim Masari, a close ally of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared that Nigerians who voted for Tinubu in the 2023 general elections have no reason to regret their decision despite the current economic challenges facing the country.

Speaking during a BBC interview on the president's performance as his administration marks two years in office, Masari stated, "Anyone who voted for President Tinubu between himself and God has no regrets."

Achievements Amid Economic Hardship

Masari highlighted what he described as significant achievements by the Tinubu administration, particularly in security and economic reforms, despite acknowledging the hardships many Nigerians currently face.

He specifically pointed to the removal of fuel subsidy as one of the president's major policy decisions. According to Masari, this was a courageous move that previous administrations had contemplated but lacked the political will to implement.

"Past presidents wanted to do it but couldn't. He did it because of how much of the country's money was being wasted," Masari explained.

Redirection of Resources

The APC chieftain further explained that funds previously allocated to fuel and electricity subsidies are now being channeled toward critical areas of national development. This reallocation, he claimed, has benefited both federal and state governments in their operations.

While acknowledging the economic difficulties many citizens are experiencing, Masari insisted that the president's decisions are aimed at building a stronger and more economically stable Nigeria in the long term.

The statement comes at a time when many Nigerians continue to grapple with rising inflation, increased transportation costs, and general economic hardship following the removal of fuel subsidies and other economic reforms implemented by the Tinubu administration.
