An Iyaganku Magistrates' Court in Ibadan on Wednesday ordered the remand of 27-year-old Musa Lamidi in a correctional facility for allegedly killing his father, Rufai.

The Magistrate, Mr. Olaolu Olanipekun, did not take Lamidi's plea due to lack of jurisdiction in the murder case. Instead, he directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, Lamidi allegedly committed the offense on May 11, at approximately 11 p.m. in Eruwa, Oyo State. The prosecutor told the court that the accused hit his father on the forehead with a stick, resulting in his death.

The prosecutor further stated that the alleged offense contravenes Section 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000, which deals with murder.

The court has adjourned the case until July 10 for mention, pending the outcome of the DPP's advice.

Lamidi, who reportedly has no fixed address, will remain in custody as the legal proceedings continue.
