The Kano State Police Command has successfully rescued a woman who was abducted from Minjibir town and taken to Garki Forest in neighboring Jigawa State, following a coordinated operation against the kidnappers.
According to a statement by the command's spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, shared on his official Facebook page, police operatives engaged in a gun battle with the kidnappers at their hideout in the forest.
"Some of the kidnappers were shot, and the others were all captured," Kiyawa stated. The operation resulted in injuries to several suspects while others were apprehended. The victim was recovered unharmed during the operation.
The police also seized multiple weapons from the suspects during the raid. Four suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue into the kidnapping incident.
This successful rescue operation highlights the ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat kidnapping, which has become a significant security challenge in northern Nigeria.
The Kano State Police Command has recently intensified its operations against criminal activities in the state, with several arrests made in related incidents over the past weeks.
