Former Imo State Governor, Achike Udenwa, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is approaching the end of its protracted leadership crisis, emphasizing that the party has sufficient courage to enforce its constitution against erring members.

Speaking on Arise Television's Morning Show on Tuesday, Udenwa expressed confidence that the PDP's disciplinary committee, led by former Senate President Bukola Saraki, would soon recommend appropriate sanctions against those causing problems within the party.

"Well, I think we are coming to the end of that struggle, and that end will be that if you don't comply with what the party constitution says, then you will be disciplined. If it means showing you the way out, we show you the way out," Udenwa stated.

The former governor emphasized that no individual is above the party or its constitution, regardless of their status. "Let me say that we have enough courage to exactly implement what the Constitution or the party says, and I'm sure that the disciplinary committee that is working right now, will come up with something very soon, and such people will be adequately disciplined," he added.

While Udenwa did not specifically name individuals targeted for disciplinary action, his comments come amid ongoing tensions within the PDP, particularly involving the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who has been at odds with the party leadership despite being a PDP member.

The PDP has been grappling with internal conflicts since the 2023 general elections, with various factions emerging within the party. Political analysts view Udenwa's statements as a sign that the party leadership may be preparing to take decisive action against members considered to be working against its interests.

"Nobody is above the party. Nobody, nobody, okay, no matter who he is, nobody is above the party," Udenwa reiterated, underscoring the party's determination to restore discipline and unity.

The outcome of the disciplinary committee's deliberations is expected to significantly impact the future direction of Nigeria's main opposition party as it prepares for the challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.
