The Osun Amotekun Corps has successfully recovered stolen items worth approximately N10 million following a daring operation that extended into neighboring Ogun State.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by Amotekun Corps Commander Isaac Omoyele, armed robbers had targeted a hotel in Ode-Omu, Osun State, in the early hours of Saturday. The victims, guests from Lagos who were attending a funeral ceremony, lost a Toyota Matrix vehicle valued at N7 million and six 42-inch LG television sets worth over N3 million during the attack.

Following a complaint lodged at the Amotekun Command in Ayedaade local government area, operatives immediately mobilized to track the suspects. The pursuit led them to Ogere in Ogun State, where they engaged in a gun battle with the robbers.

"A gun duel ensued between the Amotekun operatives and the robbers, forcing the criminals to abandon the stolen items in a bush near Ogere," Omoyele explained.

The recovery operation was conducted with assistance from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogere Unit, which provided crucial support to the Amotekun team. On Monday, the recovered items were officially returned to their rightful owners at the Amotekun Headquarters Operation Base in Osogbo by the Corps' Operations Commander, Olagunju Joseph.

Commander Omoyele emphasized that the successful operation demonstrates Amotekun's commitment to protecting lives and property in Osun State. He also expressed gratitude to the FRSC Ogere Command for their collaboration.

"The success of this operation is a clear indication of Amotekun's commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens in Osun State," he stated. "We acknowledge the support of the FRSC Ogere Command for their collaboration in achieving this feat."

The Amotekun commander urged the public to report suspicious activities, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility. "Our doors are always open to reports and intelligence from the public," he said.

Reaffirming the corps' dedication to maintaining safety across the state, Omoyele concluded, "Osun Amotekun will continue to work relentlessly to ensure that criminals find no safe haven in our state."
