Adamawa State Police have arrested a 19-year-old man who was caught disguised as a woman at a church in Ngurore, Yola South Local Government Area.

The suspect, identified as Mohammed Umar, a resident of Abuja Road in Yola South LGA, was apprehended on Monday, May 18, 2025, while loitering within the premises of Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) in Ngurore.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, Umar was observed "wearing clothing that is typically associated with an opposite sex (women)."

The arrest followed a report made by one Sunday Andrawus, who noticed the suspect's suspicious movement around the church and promptly alerted the Ngurore Divisional Police Headquarters.

"The Commissioner of Police Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, for discreet and full scale investigation," Nguroje stated in the press release.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the suspect's motive for disguising himself or his intentions at the church. The case has drawn significant attention in the local community.

The police investigation continues as officials work to determine whether this was an isolated incident or part of a broader pattern of behavior.
