The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed a serious road traffic accident that occurred on Monday evening along the Kugbo-Nyanya expressway, involving a Dangote truck that suffered brake failure.

According to a statement by FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the accident involved a Dangote-owned truck with registration number KPF 305 XA, driven by one Isa Salisu. The truck reportedly experienced brake failure, resulting in a collision with a dispatch rider and a J5 bus with registration number WAM 45 XA.

Contrary to initial reports suggesting fatalities, the police confirmed that three persons sustained serious injuries in the incident. One victim was rushed to Asokoro District Hospital, while the other two were taken to Nyanya General Hospital for medical attention.

"The affected vehicles have been towed to the police station for further investigation," SP Adeh stated in the official report.

This accident occurred barely 24 hours after another fatal crash claimed several lives at the same location, raising concerns about road safety in the area.

The FCT Police Command has urged motorists to ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles and adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent avoidable incidents on the roads.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as investigations into the cause of the accident proceed.
