The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully apprehended Ibrahim Abdullahi, a notorious kidnapper, following an intense gun battle in Gurku, Nasarawa State. The operation, conducted by the elite Scorpion Squad led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey, took place at approximately 6:00 p.m. on June 18.

According to police reports, the arrest came after valuable intelligence was received from suspects previously detained by the Syndicate Busters Unit. The information led authorities directly to Abdullahi's hideout.

Fierce Resistance and Breakthrough

The operation was not without challenges as Abdullahi's associates opened fire on the police team in an attempt to prevent his capture. Despite the resistance, the officers successfully overcame the gang members, who fled with suspected gunshot wounds.

Abdullahi sustained a gunshot wound to his lower left leg during the exchange of fire. Police recovered a long knife and several local charms from the suspect at the scene.

Weapons Supplier Confession

During interrogation, Abdullahi reportedly confessed to being a weapons supplier for kidnapping operations across the FCT and neighboring states. This revelation highlights his significant role in facilitating violent crimes in the region.

The suspect is currently receiving medical treatment while in police custody. Meanwhile, law enforcement operatives are conducting an extensive search for the remaining gang members and working to recover additional arms and related items.

This arrest represents a major breakthrough in the FCT Police Command's ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and related crimes in the capital territory and surrounding areas. Investigations continue as authorities work to dismantle the entire criminal network.
