Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and recovered the victim's vehicle in Isuaniocha, Awka North Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation was carried out by the command's Anti-Cultism Squad stationed in Enugu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on May 17, when kidnappers operating in a black Toyota Corolla intercepted and abducted the victim at Amatu village in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area. The victim was traveling in a black Lexus 350 SUV at the time of the abduction.

"The victim was abducted in his black Lexus 350 SUV before the police were alerted," Ikenga stated. "The operatives, employing technology-driven manhunt techniques, forced the criminals to abandon both the victim and the vehicle on the road at Isuaniocha before fleeing the scene."

The police spokesperson confirmed that the victim has been debriefed and is now in safe custody. He further revealed that the command is actively working with available information to dismantle the kidnapping gang responsible for the attempted abduction.

"The police have also stepped up security surveillance in the area for possible arrest of the suspects," Ikenga added.

This successful operation comes amid growing concerns about kidnapping incidents in various parts of Nigeria, with security agencies intensifying efforts to combat the menace.

The Anambra State Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command's emergency hotlines.
