Former Manchester United winger Nani has made headlines after surprisingly omitting his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo from his ultimate team-mates starting XI, despite having shared the pitch with the Portuguese superstar on 130 occasions for both club and country.

The 38-year-old ex-Portugal international revealed his all-time XI of players he has played alongside during his career, with his selections dominated by former teammates from Sporting CP and Manchester United, the two clubs where he spent significant portions of his career.

According to Planet Football, Nani selected Edwin van der Sar as his goalkeeper, with a defensive line comprising Rio Ferdinand, Bruno Alves, Patrice Evra, and João Cancelo.

In midfield, the former winger opted for Paul Scholes, Deco, and Bruno Fernandes—despite never having played alongside the current Manchester United captain at Old Trafford.

For his attacking trio, Nani selected Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, and Carlos Tevez, completing a formidable lineup but notably excluding Ronaldo, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time.

The omission is particularly surprising given Nani and Ronaldo's extensive history together. The pair were teammates at Manchester United between 2007 and 2009, and they represented Portugal together for many years, including at major international tournaments.

Nani's decision to leave out the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has sparked debate among football fans, especially considering Ronaldo's remarkable achievements and the significant overlap in their careers at both club and international levels.

The 38-year-old Nani, who himself enjoyed a successful career including four Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy with Manchester United, has yet to provide any explanation for Ronaldo's absence from his ultimate XI.
