Former Chelsea star Geremi Njitap has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo cannot make a return to the Premier League, despite speculation about the Portuguese star's future as his Al-Nassr contract winds down.
Ronaldo, who has had two stints with Manchester United during his illustrious career, is still performing at a high level at 40 years of age. He recently led Portugal to victory in the UEFA Nations League, showcasing his enduring quality on the international stage.
However, Geremi believes the demands of English football would be too much for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner at this stage of his career.
"The Premier League is too demanding, he is 40 years old and it wouldn't be the same as doing it once in a while in international games," Geremi told BoyleSports.
"I think he's going into his last year in football and I can't see him spending that in the Premier League, it's too competitive and a lot more demanding than he has been used to in the last two years," the former midfielder added.
Ronaldo's Premier League Legacy
During his time with Manchester United, Ronaldo claimed multiple Premier League titles, Champions League crowns, and individual honors including the Ballon d'Or. His first spell at Old Trafford from 2003 to 2009 saw him transform from a promising talent into one of the world's best players.
His second stint with the Red Devils in 2021-2022 was less successful and ended controversially with his contract being terminated, after which he moved to the Saudi Pro League to join Al-Nassr.
Despite his age, Ronaldo continues to score goals regularly for both club and country, leading to speculation about where the final chapter of his career might unfold.
