A female chairmanship aspirant in the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries for Lagos local government elections, Mrs Abimbola Oladokun, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the party leadership to compensate her after losing her bid to represent Orile Agege.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, Oladokun revealed that the recent defeat marks her seventh unsuccessful attempt at securing the party's nomination for the position, despite her unwavering loyalty to the party over the years.

"I have always been a true servant to my community and my party. I have single-handedly been packing waste with my truck at the community level," Oladokun stated, highlighting her grassroots contributions.

The aspirant expressed disappointment that despite President Tinubu's directive to party leaders to create opportunities for women in elective positions, many female contestants, including herself, lost in the primary election held on May 10 at the party's secretariat in Ikeja.

"The President told the party leaders to create chances for women to also hold elective positions, but I am surprised that the majority of us that contested lost at the primary election. I call on the President to intervene in my case," she appealed.

Oladokun traced her political journey back several decades, noting that she has been with the party through its evolution from Action Congress to Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and now APC, maintaining her membership throughout.

Despite the setback, she affirmed her commitment to remain a loyal APC member while seeking recognition for her contributions and political aspirations.

"I am appealing to the party leadership to consider my political ambition and compensate me for being a female aspirant and loyal party member," she said.

In response to such concerns, Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has urged all unsuccessful aspirants to work for the party's victory in the upcoming elections, assuring that the party would reward hardworking and committed members.

Ojelabi emphasized the importance of mobilizing voters to support APC candidates in the local government elections scheduled to hold across Lagos State.
