Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has predicted Tottenham Hotspur will emerge victorious against Manchester United in the upcoming UEFA Europa League final.
The all-English final is scheduled to take place on Wednesday night in Bilbao, with both Premier League giants looking to claim European glory.
"My Tottenham roots pull me towards them and I want them to win [the Europa League] of course," Murphy told Match of the Day 2, revealing his preference for the North London side.
Both teams secured their places in the final after impressive semi-final performances earlier this month. Manchester United overcame Athletic Bilbao, while Tottenham defeated Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt to set up this highly anticipated clash.
The winner will succeed Serie A side Atalanta as Europa League champions. The Italian club claimed the trophy in 2024 after defeating Bundesliga's Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in Dublin, with Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman scoring all three goals in that final.
This final represents a significant opportunity for both English clubs to secure European silverware and boost their credentials on the continental stage.
Football fans across Nigeria and beyond will be watching closely as the two Premier League giants battle for the prestigious Europa League trophy on Wednesday night.
