Prominent social critic and Peter Obi supporter, Aisha Yesufu, has disclosed her reasons for voting for former President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2015 general elections.

In a post shared on her X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, Yesufu revealed that her support for the APC ticket was primarily due to Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who was Buhari's running mate.

"The reason I voted for APC in 2015 was because of Prof. Osinbajo. It still took me up to February before I finally came to terms with voting for Gen. Buhari, the same Gen. Buhari I had vowed never to support again after the 2011 riots," she stated.

Yesufu, now a staunch supporter of Labour Party's presidential candidate Peter Obi, expressed disappointment in how Osinbajo's role played out during the Buhari administration. She noted that despite Buhari's reputation for delegating responsibilities, "Osinbajo became a toothless collaborator" during their tenure.

The social activist further commented on the limited influence of the Vice Presidential position in Nigeria's political structure, describing it as "worse than a spare tyre" and likening it to "the spare tyre left at home."

In her statement, Yesufu also addressed current political dynamics, questioning those who view former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai as a potential option for future leadership. "That's how GEJ canonized Buhari," she remarked, drawing parallels to how former President Goodluck Jonathan's administration may have inadvertently elevated Buhari's political profile.

Yesufu has become known for her outspoken criticism of government policies and has emerged as one of the prominent voices supporting Peter Obi's political aspirations in recent years.
