The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a scathing attack on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of driving Nigeria into an unprecedented economic decline since assuming power in 2015.

The criticism came from Mani Ahmed, Chairman of ADC's Board of Trustees (BoT), who spoke on behalf of the party's National Chairman, Ralph Okey Nwosu, during a statement on Nigeria's political landscape in Abuja.

Ahmed expressed deep concern over the country's gradual deterioration, noting that normal existence is becoming increasingly difficult for Nigerians. He cited alarming statistics revealing that approximately five million Nigerians join the ranks of the poverty-stricken globally each year.

"This is a disheartening reality for a nation abundantly blessed with natural resources," Ahmed stated, emphasizing that the APC's misrule has "brought Nigeria to its knees."

The BoT Chairman stressed that meaningful change can only come through good governance driven by competent leadership. He added that the ADC has consistently positioned itself as a formidable platform for re-engineering Nigeria's political and economic landscape.

This criticism comes as Nigeria continues to face significant economic challenges, including high inflation, currency devaluation, and widespread unemployment, factors that have contributed to growing dissatisfaction among citizens with the current administration's economic policies.

Political analysts view this statement as part of positioning by opposition parties ahead of future electoral contests, particularly as discussions begin to focus on the 2027 general elections.
