FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has cautioned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against repeating what he termed the "mistake of 2023" by zoning its 2027 presidential ticket to the north.

Speaking during a media chat on Monday, Wike emphasized that the opposition party cannot afford to make such a decision if it hopes to remain relevant in Nigeria's political landscape.

This comes as former Senate President Bukola Saraki has been appointed to head a 7-member committee tasked with finalizing arrangements for the PDP's upcoming National Executive Committee meeting and convention. The appointment was announced by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who chairs the PDP Governors' Forum, following an extended closed-door meeting on Sunday night.

In other developments, suspected Boko Haram terrorists launched an attack on a Nigerian Army base in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, resulting in an unconfirmed number of military casualties. Security sources reported that the attack occurred around 3:00 am on Monday at the Forward Operation Base of the 153 Task Force Battalion.
