President Bola Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, as he celebrates his 65th birthday, noting that the governor has "carved a niche for himself" in Nigerian politics.
In his congratulatory message, President Tinubu acknowledged Governor Adeleke's growing political significance not only in Osun State but across Nigeria and beyond, despite their different political affiliations.
Governor Adeleke, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), first entered national politics in 2017 when he was elected Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District following the death of his brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke. He later won the governorship election in 2022.
The President particularly commended Adeleke's pan-Nigerian approach to governance and life, highlighting how the governor's mixed Yoruba and Igbo heritage has influenced his inclusive leadership style.
"Governor Adeleke has proven to be pan-Nigerian in his way of life and governance philosophy, exemplified by his Yoruba and Igbo heritage," President Tinubu stated.
In a personal touch to his birthday message, President Tinubu prayed for the Osun State governor's continued good health, longevity, and God's infinite mercies upon the Asiwaju of Edeland, Adeleke's hometown.
This birthday celebration comes at a time when Nigeria continues to navigate complex political relationships between the federal government and states led by opposition parties.
