Nigerian activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has issued a stark warning about Nigeria's deteriorating security situation, claiming that parts of the country could soon fall under terrorist control if the current administration fails to address the crisis.

Sowore, responding to a viral video of a recent terrorist attack, took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to criticize President Bola Tinubu's government, describing it as "ineffective and corrupt."

"Nigeria's security situation has massively deteriorated under the ineffective and corrupt regime of @officialABAT, making it conceivable that more sizable portions of Nigeria may fall under terrorist control, as witnessed in Syria," Sowore stated in his post.

The activist further emphasized that Nigeria currently lacks leadership direction to effectively combat the mounting security challenges facing the nation. "The country -Nigeria-is without leadership direction at present. #RevolutionNow," he added.

Sowore's comments come amid growing concerns over the worsening security situation across Nigeria, with various regions experiencing increased terrorist activities, kidnappings, and banditry.

The criticism adds to mounting pressure on President Tinubu's administration to address the security crisis that continues to threaten the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians across the country.

As of the time of this report, the presidency has not responded to Sowore's allegations regarding the government's handling of national security matters.
