The Sokoto State Police Command has successfully arrested key suspects involved in a series of house burglaries and thefts across the state capital, recovering stolen items valued at millions of Naira in what authorities describe as a renewed crackdown on domestic crime.

According to a statement released by the Command, the operation commenced on May 8, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., following a report by Mustapha Maikano of Mana Layout at the Unguwar Rogo Police Station. Maikano reported that unknown individuals had illegally entered his residence and stolen numerous household items, including an inverter freezer, an LG plasma television, a traveling bag containing personal belongings, lace fabric, Atamfa, bed sheets, and a center carpet.

Police officers, acting on intelligence gathered, promptly apprehended a tricycle rider suspected of having knowledge about the crime. The suspect subsequently led investigators to the primary culprit, identified as Musa Isah, a resident of Tamaje Area in Sokoto.

"A search of Isah's residence led to the recovery of all the items reported stolen by Mr. Maikano," the police statement confirmed.

During the search operation, officers discovered additional evidence linking the suspects to other burglaries, including a pilgrim box tagged with the name "Amina Muhammad Lawal" and a contact number. When contacted, Amina confirmed that her home in Sarda Quarters had been burglarized on February 12, 2025, with valuables worth ₦1,531,800 stolen.

Further interrogation led to the arrest of another accomplice, Abbas Isah from Mabera Area, who was identified as both a collaborator and a receiver of stolen goods. A search of Abbas Isah's residence yielded a substantial cache of stolen items, including:

- Eight bags of rice
- A brand new Kemage KM 4000 generator
- A stainless steel vacuum flask
- A stabilizer
- A Samsung tablet
- Fifteen male kaftans
- An iPhone 14
- A box containing 22 wrappers and five lace materials
- A handbag and three women's purses
- Baby clothes
- Three sets of jewelry

The suspects reportedly confessed to multiple housebreaking incidents across different locations in Sokoto. The police statement indicated that "All suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations."

Commending the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, praised the diligence and professionalism of the officers involved in the case.
