Seven Offa indigenes who were abducted by kidnappers on April 25, 2025, have been successfully rescued and reunited with their families, following a coordinated operation by security agencies and local authorities in Kwara State.
The rescue mission was accomplished through collaborative efforts led by Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, working closely with Suleiman Olatunji Omituntun, the Local Government Chairman, alongside security agencies and local vigilante groups.
The victims were kidnapped on Friday, April 25, 2025, at approximately 5:45 p.m. at Eleyin village via Isanlu-Isin in Kwara South Senatorial District. They were traveling from Abuja to Offa in an Olumoh Express commercial Sienna bus with registration number FFA 50XD when they were abducted.
According to reports, the kidnappers had collected N14 million in ransom last week, along with a bag of rice and recharge cards, but refused to release the victims, instead demanding an additional N10 million.
Thousands of Offa community members gathered to welcome the rescued victims home. The Oloffa of Offa, Oba Muftau Muhammad Gbadamasi Ajagungbade I, Esuwoye II, along with traditional chiefs and the President of Offa Descendants Union, Alhaji Muideen Salako, expressed gratitude to Governor Abdulrazaq, who also serves as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), for his compassion and wisdom in ensuring the safe return of the kidnap victims.
The successful rescue operation has brought relief to the families of the victims and the entire Offa community, highlighting the importance of collaboration between government authorities and security agencies in combating kidnapping in the state.
