Social media influencer and public commentator, Reno Omokri, has revealed that his Facebook page was temporarily shut down following mass reporting by supporters of Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

In a video shared on his restored Facebook page on Friday, Omokri claimed the suspension occurred after he challenged statements made by the former Anambra State governor regarding power stability in Tanzania.

"Obidients reported my Facebook page that I was telling lies against Peter Obi when I exposed his lies about Tanzania," Omokri stated. "I was able to prove that what I said was true and my page has been given back to me."

According to Omokri, Obi had claimed that "Tanzania has met its power needs and they had to shut down their dams," while expressing disappointment that Nigeria lags behind despite its size advantage. Omokri vehemently disputed this assertion, describing it as "completely false."

The incident highlights the ongoing tension between Omokri and Obi's supporters, commonly known as "Obidients." Omokri has been a vocal critic of Peter Obi while maintaining strong support for President Bola Tinubu since the 2023 presidential election.

The social media influencer has previously stated that the former Anambra governor will never become Nigeria's president, a stance that has fueled continuous confrontations with Obi's supporters online.

This latest development underscores the increasingly polarized nature of Nigerian political discourse on social media platforms, where supporters of different political figures engage in heated exchanges and, as alleged in this case, mass reporting of opposing viewpoints.
