The Nigeria Police Force has strongly denied allegations that its helicopter was used to deliver food supplies to armed bandits in Kogi State, describing such claims as "unfounded and mischievous."

In an official statement released on Tuesday, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, clarified that the viral video circulating on social media actually captured a "legitimate security operation" conducted in the Obajana axis of Kogi State on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

According to the police statement, the operation was carried out by a coalition of joint security forces, including police operatives, local vigilantes, and hunters as part of coordinated efforts to combat banditry and other violent crimes in the region.

"The helicopter was deployed as part of a broader tactical mission to provide aerial support and surveillance to ground forces involved in the operation," the statement explained.

The Force emphasized its commitment to national security and condemned the spread of unverified information that could potentially undermine public trust in security agencies. Citizens were advised to disregard the claims surrounding the viral video and to rely solely on official police communication channels for accurate information regarding security activities.

The police reaffirmed their dedication to securing all parts of the country and assured Nigerians that they would continue to work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure public safety.

This clarification comes amid growing concerns about security challenges in various parts of Nigeria, where banditry and other forms of violent crimes have remained persistent issues requiring coordinated security responses.
