The Nigeria Police Force has strongly denied allegations circulating on social media that a police helicopter was used to deliver food supplies to bandits in Kogi State.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi described the claims as "false and misleading," providing clarification about a viral video that sparked the rumors.
According to the police statement, the helicopter seen in the viral footage landing in a bushy area was actually part of a legitimate security operation conducted in Obajana, Kogi State, on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
"The police helicopter seen in the video was deployed to provide aerial support and surveillance to ground troops during the operation," the statement explained. "The suggestion that the helicopter was used to deliver food items to bandits is entirely baseless and mischievous."
The operation was reportedly a coordinated mission involving multiple security agencies, including the police, local vigilantes, and hunters. The joint effort aimed at combating banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities plaguing the region.
The Nigeria Police Force has urged the public to disregard the false claims and advised citizens to rely solely on official police communication channels for accurate information regarding security operations.
The statement reaffirmed the Force's commitment to national security, emphasizing that it will continue working with relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety of lives and property across Nigeria.
