A man identified as Godspower has been apprehended by the Agbarho Community Vigilante in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State after allegedly breaking into a home while naked and stealing two mobile phones and meat from a pot of stew.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday at approximately 1:00 am when the suspect reportedly jumped into the compound of an elderly man and gained entry into his apartment.
According to reports, Godspower successfully stole two mobile phones before proceeding to the kitchen where he removed chicken from a pot of stew. While attempting to eat the stolen meat, he accidentally dropped the pot cover, creating noise that alerted the homeowner.
When the elderly victim investigated the disturbance and entered the kitchen, the naked suspect allegedly pushed him to the ground, causing injuries. The homeowner's cries for help attracted the attention of nearby vigilante members who quickly responded to the scene.
The vigilante group apprehended the suspect, reportedly administering a severe beating before handing him over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution. Sources indicate that Godspower is currently being held in police custody.
This incident highlights ongoing security concerns in the region and the active role community vigilante groups play in supplementing formal law enforcement efforts in Delta State.
