The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed several establishments across the state for violating environmental regulations, with particular emphasis on noise pollution infractions.
According to a statement released by LASEPA on Friday, the enforcement operation was conducted on Wednesday, targeting multiple facilities in the Mainland axis of Lagos, including areas such as Onike, Yaba, China Town, Ojota, Pedro, Bariga, Magodo, Shomolu, and Ebute Metta.
The affected establishments span a wide range of sectors, including religious institutions, hospitality venues, residential apartments, warehouses, and bakeries. Among the sealed facilities were Suit Las Caracas, Forest Guzu Xinlong Zhongnia Horn Co. Ltd., Success Bakery, multiple residential apartment occupants, CCC Church and CCC Training Seminary, JP Ventures Bakery, and Aliya Bakery.
Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, emphasized the agency's commitment to environmental protection and public health during the operation. He highlighted that noise pollution remains a significant threat to urban wellness in Lagos.
"Our enforcement today is a clear message that we are committed to protecting the environment and ensuring a healthier Lagos," Dr. Ajayi stated.
The LASEPA General Manager urged individuals and organizations across the state to comply with existing environmental laws. He reaffirmed the agency's dedication to fostering a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable city for all residents of Lagos State.
This latest enforcement action underscores the Lagos State Government's ongoing efforts to address environmental concerns and improve the quality of life for residents by reducing noise pollution in both residential and commercial areas.
