Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, has issued a strong directive to Directors of Finance, emphasizing the critical importance of maintaining probity, discipline, and integrity in public fund management.

The Deputy Governor made these remarks on Thursday while officially opening a four-day training workshop on Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism in Sokoto. He stressed that fiscal responsibility aligns with Governor Nasir Idris' administration's vision for the state.

"The role of finance directors in safeguarding government resources cannot be overstated," Tafida stated. "You must remain vigilant and proactive in preventing financial irregularities."

The Deputy Governor reaffirmed the Kebbi State Government's commitment to transparency and accountability, highlighting its zero-tolerance approach to financial misconduct. He commended the Office of the Accountant-General for implementing initiatives that have strengthened financial discipline and significantly improved the state's financial management systems.

Also speaking at the event, State Accountant-General Allah Bello Ibrahim explained that the training was specifically designed to equip finance directors with essential tools and knowledge needed to implement effective measures against financial crimes. Ibrahim encouraged participants to actively engage in discussions, share experiences, and collaborate with relevant agencies to enhance their effectiveness in combating corruption.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, Adamu Mohammed, urged participants to apply the knowledge gained towards building a more transparent and accountable financial system in Kebbi. He pledged legislative support for improved budgetary oversight to further strengthen financial governance in the state.
