Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has officially nominated administrators and members to lead the 18 Area Administrative Councils across the state, according to a letter addressed to the State House of Assembly Speaker dated May 12, 2025.
The nominations, made in accordance with Section 30(7)(b) and (9) of the Nasarawa State Local Government Law, 2024, aim to establish leadership for what were previously known as Development Areas in the state.
All nominees are expected to undergo screening and confirmation by the State Assembly before assuming their positions. The appointments represent a significant administrative restructuring in Nasarawa's local governance system.

The nominations span across all 18 Area Administrative Councils and include prominent figures such as Air Commodore Yahaya Owuna (rtd) for Udege and Professor Rabo Dakare for Panda.
Each council will be led by an Administrator supported by four members. Notable appointments include Hashimu Jada (Azara), Hon. Yakubu Bala (Karshi), Jeremiah Ishaleku (Lafia East), Mr. Nasiru Akanza (Lafia North), and Hon. Jibrin Maiwada (Gadabuke).
Other Administrator nominees include Hon. Shuaibu Jibrin (Daddare), Hon. David Ayele (Jenkwe), Bashir Zubairu (Farin Ruwa), Hon. Yunusa Adamu (Akwanga West), Abdullahi Agu Envulu-Anza (Agidi), Hon. Solomon Omaku (Giza), Dr. Adigizi Garba (Akun), Shuaibu Umar (Loko), Prince Abubakar Jibrin (Ekye), Salihu Kasim Hasheem (Umaisha), and Elisha Dogo (Agwada).
The member nominations reflect a diverse selection of individuals from various backgrounds, including legal professionals, academics, and community leaders, with attention to gender representation across the councils.
This administrative restructuring follows the implementation of the Nasarawa State Local Government Law of 2024, which transformed the state's Development Areas into Area Administrative Councils, signaling a new approach to local governance in the state.
