Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi has appointed Hannafi Yakubu Fagam as the new Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), according to an official statement released on Monday.
The announcement was made by the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim, who confirmed that the appointment takes immediate effect.
Fagam, described as a seasoned politician, previously served as Commissioner for Finance from 2007 to 2011 during former Governor Sule Lamido's administration, bringing significant experience to his new role.
In a related development, Governor Namadi also appointed Haruna Mairiga as his Special Adviser on Social Security. Notably, Mairiga previously held the position of Executive Secretary of SEMA before this new appointment.
The government statement emphasized that both appointments were made based on merit, competence, and personal integrity of the appointees.
"The appointees are expected to work diligently to uphold the trust placed in them and contribute significantly to the state's development," the statement read.
These appointments reflect Governor Namadi's ongoing efforts to strengthen his administration with experienced officials as he continues to implement his governance agenda in Jigawa State.
