Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged critics to stop judging him for his love of dancing in public, emphasizing that his penchant for dance does not diminish his effectiveness as a governor.

Speaking at a recent function, Governor Adeleke expressed frustration over being singled out for criticism when other political leaders, including some of his colleagues and even President Bola Tinubu, also dance publicly without facing similar scrutiny.

"[Babajide] Sanwo-olu is dancing. Everybody is dancing. Even Baba [Bola] Tinubu is dancing. So, no law that says just because you are a governor, you can't dance," Adeleke stated in a video that has gone viral on social media platform X.

The governor, who has become known for his energetic dance moves at public events, defended his expression as a personal choice that brings him joy and should not be condemned.

"Stop judging me just because I choose to express myself through dancing. It is my joy, my freedom, and an essential part of who I am. If it brings me happiness and harms no one, then there is no reason it should be condemned," he added.

This response comes after Adeleke's nephew, international music star Davido, recently defended him, claiming that his uncle is "the best governor Osun State has ever seen" despite critics undermining him because of his love for dancing.

Governor Adeleke, who was elected in 2022, has faced occasional criticism for his dancing, with some questioning whether it affects his seriousness in governance. However, his supporters argue that his performance as governor should be judged by his policies and achievements rather than his personal expression.

The governor's comments highlight the ongoing debate about personality and public perception in Nigerian politics, where leaders' personal traits and behaviors often become subjects of public discourse alongside their governance records.
