Flying Eagles midfielder Divine Oliseh faces a race against time to be fit for Nigeria's semi-final clash at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations after suffering a concussion during the quarter-final match against Senegal.

The Foster Academy player was forced off the pitch in the 87th minute following a head collision during Nigeria's victory over Senegal. He was immediately replaced by Precious Benjamin as a precautionary measure.

According to tournament regulations, Oliseh must now undergo concussion protocol and receive clearance from a CAF medical doctor before being permitted to return to action. This puts his participation in Thursday's crucial semi-final in serious doubt.

The Flying Eagles are set to face South Africa in the semi-finals at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia. The match is scheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m. Nigerian time, giving the medical team limited time to assess and clear Oliseh for participation.

Nigeria's U-20 team has shown impressive form throughout the tournament, with their quarter-final victory over Senegal further cementing their status as strong contenders for the title. The team has already secured qualification for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup by reaching the semi-finals.

The potential absence of Oliseh, who has been a key figure in the Flying Eagles' midfield, would be a significant blow to the team's aspirations of reaching the final and ultimately lifting the trophy.

Head coach Ladan Bosso will now need to consider alternative options to fill the potential void in midfield as the team continues their preparation for the crucial encounter against South Africa.
