Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has declared his team's intention to win the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations trophy following their successful qualification for the World Cup.

Nigeria's U-20 team is set to face South Africa's Amajita in a crucial semi-final match scheduled for Thursday at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt.

"We will do everything to bring the trophy back home," Zubairu stated ahead of the encounter. "We're going fully for the trophy after we secured our place at the World Cup."

The Flying Eagles coach expressed confidence in his team's preparation, revealing that he has conducted thorough research on their South African opponents.

"I was at the stadium and watched South Africa against DR Congo," he added. "We therefore have a good idea of how they play."

Nigeria is aiming to extend their record as the most successful team in the tournament's history by clinching their eighth U-20 AFCON title. The team received a boost with reports indicating that key players have recovered from injuries ahead of the crucial clash.

The winner of the Nigeria-South Africa semi-final will face either Morocco or another finalist in the championship match, as the tournament reaches its climactic stages.
