Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has declared that his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, is "the best Governor that they've ever had" despite initial skepticism about his leadership capabilities.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the 'Culture Knock Out' (C.K.O) show hosted by Chris and Baloo, the award-winning artist defended his uncle's governance record while acknowledging the public's initial doubts about the governor's seriousness due to his dancing reputation.
"My uncle, the Dancing Governor is good vibes. He has an amazing story, he is the last born of my dad's family. They [Osun people] never believed that he would become a governor," Davido stated during the interview.
The singer emphasized that Governor Adeleke's case represents a classic example of not judging a book by its cover. "He is a real example of, 'Don't judge a book by its cover'; just because somebody likes to dance and have a good time, it doesn't mean when it is time to work, he won't," he explained.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is often referred to as the "Dancing Governor" due to his energetic dance moves at public events, assumed office in November 2022 after defeating the incumbent in a keenly contested election. His victory marked a significant political shift in Osun State.
Davido's comments come amid ongoing political debates in Osun State, where the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) have been trading accusations over various governance issues, including judicial matters and local council leadership.
Governor Adeleke recently celebrated his 65th birthday, which saw mixed reactions from political stakeholders in the state. While supporters praised his administration's achievements, the opposition APC reportedly criticized his governance record.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already signaled that focus is shifting toward the upcoming 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun State, according to statements attributed to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Agboke.
