Veteran Nigerian musician and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has publicly criticized former Senator Dino Melaye over his ostentatious display of wealth on social media, suggesting the politician might be suffering from mental health issues despite his affluence.

The controversy began when Melaye, who represented Kogi West during the 8th Assembly, shared a video on Instagram where he declared, "There's no one else like me. I'm limited edition." This self-proclamation appears to have triggered Charly Boy's response.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Charly Boy wrote: "This shows that even in the midst of luxury/obscene affluence, it is possible to be clinically depressed, not all forms of mental illness are discernible."

Melaye has long been known for his flamboyant lifestyle and particular fondness for luxury vehicles, which he frequently showcases on his social media platforms. The former senator's penchant for displaying his wealth has often drawn both admiration and criticism from Nigerians.

This is not the first time the two public figures have clashed. Previous reports indicate that Melaye once responded to Charly Boy's criticism by claiming the musician's "destiny is inside a freezer," highlighting the ongoing tension between them.

The exchange has sparked discussions among Nigerians about wealth display, mental health awareness, and the behavior of public figures on social media platforms.

As of the time of this report, Dino Melaye has not publicly responded to Charly Boy's latest comments.
