Armed bandits have launched fresh attacks in Katsina State, killing three people and abducting one person in separate incidents across Sabuwa and Faskari local government areas on Wednesday afternoon.
According to eyewitness accounts and local sources, the first attack targeted Sabuwa General Hospital, where assailants shot and killed two staff members—a laboratory technician and a security guard—before escaping from the scene.
In a separate incident reported on the outskirts of Faskari, armed men ambushed local farmers, resulting in one death and the abduction of another victim.
These violent incidents are the latest in a series of attacks plaguing Katsina State, which continues to struggle with widespread insecurity, particularly in rural communities bordering forest regions known to harbor criminal elements.
As of press time, authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the attacks. However, residents report that the increasing frequency of such violent incidents has instilled fear throughout the affected communities and significantly disrupted daily life.
The attacks highlight the ongoing security challenges facing Katsina State despite various government initiatives to combat banditry in Nigeria's northwestern region.
BenriNews will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available from official sources.
