A young farmer identified as Lucky Tsetim has been killed by suspected armed herdsmen while working on his farm in Tse-Kalema, Mbazun, Atogbenda, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to local sources, the attack occurred on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, reigniting fears among residents who report that such incidents have become increasingly frequent in the area.
Community members have expressed growing concern over what they describe as persistent attacks by Fulani herdsmen in Tse-Kalema and surrounding areas. They are urgently appealing to security agencies to intervene and restore peace in the troubled region.
The killing comes amid ongoing security challenges in Benue State, particularly in rural farming communities where tensions between farmers and herders have remained a persistent issue for years.
As of the time of this report, no official statement has been issued by authorities regarding the incident. Attempts by BenriNews to reach the Spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, were unsuccessful.
