Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has firmly dismissed rumors suggesting she plans to retire from international football following Nigeria's triumph at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The 30-year-old star addressed these speculations while speaking to journalists after Nigeria secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Morocco in the WAFCON final, clinching their record-extending 10th continental title.

"I don't know where that came from but agenda must agend. I get it, but I'm not bothered. I'm still here. I'm still playing. I'm still doing my job. That's what I'm focused on," Oshoala stated emphatically.

Despite being included in Nigeria's final 23-player squad for the tournament, the six-time African Footballer of the Year primarily played a supporting role throughout the competition, with younger talents stepping into the spotlight.

Oshoala's illustrious international career began in 2013, and she has since established herself as one of Africa's greatest footballers. Her remarkable achievement of scoring in three consecutive FIFA Women's World Cups made her the first African player to accomplish this feat.

With this latest triumph, Oshoala has now won four WAFCON titles with the Super Falcons, having previously lifted the trophy in 2014, 2016, and 2018 before adding the 2024 title to her impressive collection.

Following their victory, President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to receive the victorious Super Falcons team in Abuja on Monday to celebrate their achievement and recognize their contribution to Nigerian sports.

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has also applauded the team's performance, highlighting their resilience and determination throughout the tournament, particularly in the hard-fought final against the host nation.
