The Obidient Movement has celebrated former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of his 64th birthday, describing him as "a symbol of hope, integrity, and transformational leadership" while expressing anticipation for his political future in 2027.
Dr. Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, made these remarks in a statement released ahead of Obi's birthday on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
"This Saturday, July 19th, 2025, we celebrate not just a man, but a movement, a symbol of hope, integrity, and transformational leadership," Tanko stated in the birthday message.
The statement further expressed gratitude to the former Anambra State governor for his "unmatched courage, selfless service, and relentless pursuit of a New Nigeria where competence, character, compassion, consistency and capacity lead the way."
In a clear indication of the movement's political aspirations, Tanko added: "Happy Birthday, our leader Mr. Peter Obi, Nigerians are waiting for your liberation in 2027. The journey continues. Obidiently, we march on."
The birthday celebration comes amid growing speculation about Peter Obi's political future following his presidential bid in the 2023 general elections, where he emerged as a strong third-force candidate, particularly popular among young voters.
Political analysts note that the reference to "liberation in 2027" suggests the Obidient Movement is already positioning for the next presidential election cycle, with Obi as their preferred candidate.
Peter Obi, known for his emphasis on fiscal responsibility and economic reforms, has maintained a significant political presence since the 2023 elections, continuing to advocate for good governance and accountability in public service.
