Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has expressed confidence that his team will overcome Zambia's Copper Queens in their upcoming Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024 quarter-final clash scheduled for Friday.

The Copper Queens have been one of the standout teams in the tournament so far, scoring an impressive six goals during their group stage campaign. Their attack is spearheaded by current African Women's Best Player Barbara Banda and talented striker Rachel Kundananji.

Nigeria's Super Falcons, who netted four goals in their group matches and secured top spot in Group B after a draw with Algeria, will be facing their toughest test yet in the knockout phase.

Despite Zambia's attacking prowess, Madugu remains unperturbed and has a clear strategy for the encounter.

"We have our strategy. We've studied them closely. We know what they're capable of. We're not too concerned about individual brilliance, it's a team game. We'll work on neutralising their strengths," the 60-year-old coach told reporters during a press conference.

The quarter-final matchup promises to be a thrilling encounter between two of Africa's strongest women's football nations. The Super Falcons, as multiple WAFCON champions, will be looking to advance to the semi-finals and continue their quest for another continental title.

Both teams have shown quality throughout the tournament, with Nigeria demonstrating defensive solidity while Zambia has impressed with their attacking flair. The winner of this fixture will move one step closer to continental glory and secure a spot in the semi-finals.
