Police in Kaduna have arrested an 18-year-old girl following the death of a woman during a domestic altercation in the Kabala Costain area of Kaduna metropolis.

The suspect, identified as Faiza Abdullahi, was taken into custody after allegedly grabbing Hajara Bashir by the neck during a dispute, causing her to collapse and subsequently die.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared details of the incident on social media platform X, the confrontation occurred on Friday night and initially involved Faiza and a 13-year-old boy, Khalifa Abubakar Bashir, from the Kamfanin Kobo neighbourhood.

The situation escalated when Hajara Bashir, mother of the teenage boy, intervened in the altercation. Reports indicate that during the confrontation, Faiza allegedly grabbed the woman by the neck, after which she collapsed.

The victim was rushed to a nearby clinic where medical personnel pronounced her dead at approximately 10:14 p.m. Following the incident, police authorities detained Faiza as they launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.

Family members of the deceased declined a post-mortem examination and have since received the body for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

Police officials confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing, with authorities working to establish the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal outcome.

This incident adds to recent security concerns in Kaduna State, where authorities have been addressing various criminal activities including illegal arms manufacturing and violent clashes.
