The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has announced plans to conduct a Range Classification Exercise for cadets of the 73 Regular Course. The exercise will take place from July 14 to 18, 2025, at the NDA Open Range.
Major Mohammed Maidawa, Academy Public Relations Officer, explained in a statement that the four-day exercise aims to enhance the cadets' proficiency in live firing scenarios, which is crucial for their training and overall preparedness.
"The exercise is designed to enhance the cadets' skills in live firing scenarios and will be instrumental in their training and preparedness," Major Maidawa stated.
The NDA has issued a public advisory to local residents and surrounding communities to be aware of the exercise schedule. Residents are urged not to be alarmed by sounds associated with the live firing activities during this period.
Of particular importance, farmers, herders, and residents have been strongly advised to avoid entering or trespassing into the NDA Open Range and surrounding areas throughout the duration of the exercise.
"Public safety is our priority, and adhering to these guidelines will help prevent any accidents," the statement emphasized.
The Academy has appealed for public cooperation and assistance in disseminating this information to ensure widespread awareness and safety during the exercise period.
This Range Classification Exercise represents an important component of the military training curriculum for the cadets, providing them with practical experience in handling live ammunition under controlled conditions.
