American singer Billie Eilish has publicly condemned Israel's defense minister Israel Katz's plan to relocate all Palestinians in Gaza to a camp built on the ruins of Rafah, describing the proposal as "horrifying" on her Instagram page.
Katz announced on Monday that he had instructed the military to advance plans for establishing a "humanitarian city" in Rafah that would initially house about 600,000 Palestinians, with the eventual goal of relocating Gaza's entire population of 2.1 million people.
The Grammy-winning artist shared a screenshot of the news report on her Instagram story, captioning it simply as "Horrifying." She also used her platform to advocate for humanitarian assistance, writing, "Gaza needs clean water."
This is not the first time Eilish has spoken out about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. She has been consistently vocal about the situation following Israel's military operations in the territory. Earlier this year, she was among several celebrities who wore a red enamel pin at the 2024 Oscars ceremony as a symbol of solidarity and to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The proposed relocation plan has drawn significant international criticism, with humanitarian organizations expressing concerns about the feasibility and ethics of moving such a large population into a concentrated area that has already suffered extensive damage from military operations.
Eilish joins a growing list of international celebrities and public figures who have used their platforms to raise awareness about the situation in Gaza and call for humanitarian action.
