Phrank Shaibu, Special Assistant to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Public Communication, has declared that attempts to infiltrate the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition have failed.

In a statement released on Sunday titled "The Plot Is Clear — And It Has Failed," Shaibu warned that those responsible for Nigeria's current challenges would not be permitted to hijack the ADC coalition's leadership.

Shaibu's remarks came in response to comments by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who suggested that the ADC should select Peter Obi as its presidential candidate. According to Shaibu, leaders who have failed Nigeria have no business dictating how the ADC coalition should operate.

"They infiltrated us in 2023, and after rigging themselves into power, the vagabonds they planted shamelessly joined them in celebration. Now, they're at it again — but this time, the people know better. Why should the architects of our misery be the ones prescribing our leaders?" Shaibu stated.

He pointed out that Keyamo's unsolicited advice about Peter Obi was part of a calculated strategy to "sow discord, ignite conflict, and break the momentum of unity" within the coalition.

Warning Against Division

Shaibu cautioned coalition members against allowing planted narratives to take root within the ADC. He emphasized that attacking each other and questioning intentions would only serve the interests of those trying to undermine the coalition.

"Let's pause and ask the obvious: Why would those who failed Nigeria be the ones telling us how to fix it? Why are our oppressors suddenly so invested in the internal decisions of a coalition formed to rescue the country from them?" he questioned.

The statement further highlighted that the greatest danger facing the coalition is internal conflict, which he described as the "oldest trick in the book: divide us, distract us, and dominate us."

Lessons from 2023

Reflecting on past experiences, Shaibu recalled how similar tactics were employed during the 2023 elections. "In 2023, they planted agents in our camps, twisted our narratives, and disrupted our momentum. It worked once. But never again. This time, Nigerians are alert. Eyes open. Hearts ready," he asserted.

Shaibu concluded with a rallying call for unity within the ADC coalition: "We are not divided. We are not distracted. We are ADC — all the way."

The ADC coalition has been positioning itself as a formidable opposition platform ahead of future elections, with various political figures aligning with the movement.
