Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been named as the acting National Chairman following Abdullahi Ganduje's resignation, according to party chieftain Ayekooto Akindele.
Ganduje tendered his resignation on Friday, June 27, 2025, with the specific reasons behind his decision yet to be officially clarified. However, sources close to the party have suggested health concerns as a possible factor for his stepping down.
Akindele confirmed Dalori's appointment in a post on his official Facebook page, stating, "Acting National Chairman of the APC, Ali Bukar Dalori."
Transition of Leadership
While the APC's National Working Committee is yet to make an official announcement regarding both Ganduje's resignation and his successor, Bashir Ahmad, former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, had earlier indicated that one of the party's national vice chairmen would take over in an acting capacity.
According to Ahmad, the interim arrangement will remain in place until a substantive chairman is elected at the APC national convention scheduled for December 2025.
The leadership change comes at a critical time for Nigeria's ruling party as it prepares for its national convention later this year, which will determine the party's long-term leadership structure.
Political analysts suggest this transition may impact the party's internal dynamics and potentially its strategies heading into future electoral contests.
