The chairman of the Professional Football Disciplinary Committee (PFDK), Celal Nuri Demiturk, has resigned from his position following the leak of private WhatsApp messages concerning Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho.

Demiturk's resignation comes amid growing pressure from Fenerbahce, who had demanded he step down after the club discovered what they described as "hostile" comments about their high-profile manager in conversations between PFDK members.

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF), which oversees the PFDK, has already appointed Basbug Pinarbasi as Demiturk's replacement to lead the disciplinary committee.

Impartiality Concerns Raised

Fenerbahce issued a strong statement regarding the leaked messages, insisting that the comments made about Mourinho "clearly violate the principle of impartiality" expected from disciplinary officials in Turkish football.

Since his arrival at the Istanbul club, Mourinho has maintained his characteristic outspoken approach, often creating controversy with his public statements. Demiturk was reportedly among those who had responded to provocations from the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager.

This incident adds to a series of controversies surrounding Mourinho's tenure in Turkey. Earlier this year, the Portuguese manager expressed frustration after Fenerbahce ended the season without a trophy, describing "strange things" happening in Turkish football.

The resignation highlights the ongoing tensions between Mourinho, Fenerbahce, and Turkish football authorities as the club seeks to challenge for honors in the upcoming season.
