Club World Cup 2025: Eight Teams Secure Round of 16 Spots

Eight teams have now secured their places in the Round of 16 at the ongoing Club World Cup 2025, following Inter Miami's 2-2 draw with Palmeiras that saw both clubs progress from their group.

The stalemate between Inter Miami and Palmeiras ensured both teams accumulated enough points to advance to the knockout stages of the expanded club competition.

PSG and Botafogo Also Progress

Earlier in the day, Paris Saint-Germain bounced back from their surprising 1-0 defeat to Botafogo by defeating Seattle Sounders 2-0. The Champions League winners initially struggled to break down the resilient MLS side but eventually found the breakthrough before halftime when Vitinha's off-target effort deflected in off Kvaratskhelia.

Achraf Hakimi sealed the victory for PSG with a second goal after the interval, securing their place in the next round.

Despite suffering a 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid, with Antoine Griezmann scoring the winner in the 87th minute, Botafogo also qualified as runners-up from their group. The late goal proved to be merely a consolation for the Spanish side, who failed to advance.
