Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has declared that the United States "must receive a response" following overnight strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, describing the attacks as a blatant act of aggression against his country.
During a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday, Pezeshkian emphasized the need for consequences, according to Iran's state-run news agency IRNA.
"The Americans must receive a response to their aggression," Pezeshkian stated firmly during the call, signaling Iran's intention to retaliate against what it views as an unprovoked attack.
President Joins Mass Protests in Tehran
Shortly after his conversation with Macron, Pezeshkian made a significant public appearance by joining large-scale protests in Tehran. State television broadcast live footage showing the Iranian president walking through crowds of demonstrators who gathered in central squares across the capital.
Protesters were seen raising their fists in defiance while chanting "Revenge, revenge!" as Pezeshkian moved through the demonstration surrounded by supporters, in what appears to be a calculated show of national unity and resolve.
Rising Regional Tensions
The developments come amid escalating tensions following coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel targeting Iran's Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities.
While Iran has not yet specified what form its response will take, military leaders have suggested a "measured retaliation" is being considered. The situation has prompted international concern about further destabilization in the already volatile Middle East region.
Several Western nations, including France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, have urged Iran to resume nuclear talks following the strikes, emphasizing diplomatic solutions over military escalation.
Meanwhile, Qatar has called for de-escalation and a return to diplomacy, while Iran's Foreign Minister claimed the US strikes have "blown up" ongoing diplomatic efforts.
The situation continues to develop as international observers closely monitor Iran's next moves in what has become a significant test for regional stability.
