A devastating windstorm has ravaged Kuletu community in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, destroying over 450 houses and leaving numerous residents without shelter.

The disaster struck on Sunday evening, June 15, at approximately 4:47 p.m., tearing off roofs, displacing property, and completely destroying some buildings in the community.

Jibrin Abdullahi, a resident leading the community inspection efforts, confirmed that at least 452 houses have been counted as either partially or completely destroyed in the aftermath of the windstorm.

"We are in a pathetic situation. Some houses have completely collapsed while others lost their roofs completely. Most of the people in our community no longer have shelter and are in urgent need of assistance. So, I call on relevant agencies to immediately come to our aid," Abdullahi stated.

Community in Urgent Need of Relief

As of the time of this report, no official figures have been released by authorities regarding the total extent of the damage. The affected residents are currently facing significant challenges with many families displaced and in need of immediate humanitarian assistance.
