Onyeka Okoro is on the verge of sealing a move away from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Niger Tornadoes, with two clubs battling for his signature.

According to reports, the combative midfielder has attracted significant interest from NPFL clubs Plateau United and Nasarawa United following his impressive performances last season.

Standout Performer for Niger Tornadoes

Okoro established himself as one of the standout performers for Niger Tornadoes during the 2024/25 NPFL campaign. The midfielder made 30 league appearances and contributed one goal for the Ikon Allah Boys.

His consistent displays in the middle of the park played a crucial role in Niger Tornadoes' dramatic escape from relegation on the final day of the season. Before joining Tornadoes, Okoro previously featured for another NPFL side, Kwara United.

NPFL Transfer Market Heating Up

The interest in Okoro comes as NPFL clubs begin preparations for the 2025/26 season, which is scheduled to kick off on August 22. Both Plateau United and Nasarawa United are looking to strengthen their squads ahead of the new campaign.

Neither club has officially confirmed their pursuit of the midfielder, but sources close to the negotiations suggest talks are at an advanced stage, with Okoro expected to make his decision in the coming days.
