Trita Parsi, vice president of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, has claimed that Israel severely underestimated Iran's capacity to regroup following the targeted killing of several top Iranian military officials.

"They [Israel] underestimated the Iranian ability to regroup after the Israelis very successfully targeted the top leadership of the Iranian military and managed to kill several of them," Parsi stated during a recent interview about the escalating missile exchanges between the two nations.

The Iranian-born Swedish activist further noted that "Iranian missiles are successful in penetrating all layers of Israel's air defense systems," highlighting the effectiveness of Iran's retaliatory strikes.

Escalating Military Exchanges

The conflict intensified on Thursday when Israeli military forces launched multiple airstrikes on Iran, reportedly killing several high-ranking military officials. Iran responded swiftly on Friday and early Saturday by firing hundreds of ballistic missiles toward Israel, resulting in three reported casualties according to Israeli authorities.

As tensions continue to mount, Israel's Home Front Command issued warnings on Sunday urging citizens to avoid gatherings and minimize movement in public spaces throughout the country.

Both nations appear to be widening their attacks, with casualties increasing on both sides as the conflict shows no immediate signs of de-escalation.

The situation has drawn international attention, with various global leaders expressing concern about the potential for a wider regional conflict if diplomatic solutions are not pursued.
