Hamas political bureau member Izzat al-Risheq has issued a stark warning following Iran's missile strikes against Israel, stating that "whoever attacks will pay the price."
The Iranian military launched a barrage of missiles targeting various parts of Israel on Friday and early Saturday morning, with images circulating online showing destroyed homes and partial damage to structures across the country.
Israel's national emergency medical services reported treating and evacuating 21 people after a rocket strike hit the country's coastal plain. This attack comes as a direct response to Israel's recent military campaign involving dozens of airstrikes on Iranian territory.
In a statement shared on Hamas's official Telegram account, Al-Risheq claimed: "Dozens of precision missiles and drones successfully hit their targets deep inside the entity, despite all the hype about Israel's defence system."
"The message of the response is clear: whoever attacks will pay the price," he added, framing Iran's action as a demonstration of military capability and resolve.
Escalating Regional Tensions
The exchange of military strikes between Israel and Iran marks a significant escalation in regional tensions that threatens to draw in other powers and potentially destabilize the broader Middle East.
According to reports, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that "all of Israel" came under fire from Iran's ballistic missiles during the attack. Meanwhile, explosions were reported in Tel Aviv, with at least two people killed and several homes damaged by the Iranian missile strikes.
The latest round of hostilities follows Israel's airstrikes that reportedly killed several senior Iranian military commanders, prompting Iran to appoint new military leaders in the aftermath.
As the situation continues to develop, international observers express growing concern about the potential for a wider regional conflict that could have global implications.
